Megan K. Salmon, MFT Somatic Psychotherapist

About Me

My background is in Somatic Psychotherapy, a body-oriented process dedicated to the recognition of the interconnection between body and mind. I received my M.A. from The California Institute of Integral Studies and have experience in a number of settings, including clinics, hospitals, and schools. I worked and trained with The Center for Somatic Psychotherapy where I saw individual clients, co-facilitated a training on Academic Stress and Anxiety, and worked off site with elementary school aged children in the Glen Park After School Program. I completed a 10-month program on Integrative Medicine with The Institute for Health & Healing. There, I worked directly with medical staff to ensure comprehensive care, provided psychotherapeutic support to in-patients, and worked in integrative teams alongside individuals providing massage, harp, chaplaincy, and nursing at the bedside. I've completed a 200-hour vinyasa yoga training steeped in the Jivamukti tradition and am also trained in Somatic Experiencing, a psychobiological method for relieving trauma. Most recently I worked with The Holos Institute, a community of therapists dedicated to acknowledging the impact of our social and environmental contexts and incorporating this perspective within the therapeutic relationship. Currently, I have a private practice in Hayes Valley
